History
The foundation stone for Indira Park in Hyderabad was laid in 1975 by the then President of India, Late Faqruddin Ahmed. The park derives its name after one of the former Prime Ministers of India, Indira Gandhi. It later became accessible to the public in 1978 and is one of the oldest parks situated in Hyderabad. In 1994, the Indira Park introduced certain additions which added to the popularity of this green space in the heart of the city, such as computerized musical fountains, a rock garden, a nursery and a rose garden. Today, the park is maintained and managed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority.
